While the name isn’t very flashy or hi-tech sounding, Phone.com is quite simply one of the best VoIP providers in business today.  Phone.com’s next-generation Internet phone service is built around award-winning VoIP technology that gives you maximum reliability and exceptional sound quality.  If you run a small to mid-sized company, Phone.com can give you a truly state of the art phone system at a very comfortable price-point.  And if you’re looking for home phone service, Phone.com can offer you a package of exceptional service for far less than you are now paying for your traditional phone service.

Products and Features

Phone.com offers three different home phone service packages, four service packages for small business and home office clients, and virtual PBX service for their larger business clients.  For small office/home office (SOHO) customers, you can’t beat the value of Phone.com’s Virtual Office Phone System.  With Virtual Office you can get a local or toll-free 800 number—including a vanity number if you’d like—and top of the line business features like custom greetings, auto attendant, voicemail, internet fax receiving, call transfer, and a lot more.  Phone.com’s home phone service also comes complete with all of the features you’ve come to expect—caller ID, call waiting, voicemail, call forwarding, and more.  But the product we really love is Phone.com’s Virtual Number.  With Virtual Number you get the convenience of one local number that finds you on any of your phones (home, work, cell, etc.) and keeps all of your voicemail in one mailbox!  With Virtual Number you can even transcribe voicemail to text and read it as email.

Reliability and Performance

A lot of VoIP companies are basically store-fronts; you pay them for a product or service that comes from somebody else.  And when this happens, the company you’re dealing with may know next to nothing about VoIP technology or how to resolve problems.  That is not true with Phone.com.  The people running Phone.com have deep VoIP and telecom backgrounds, and all of the company’s development, operations, and service are done in-house.  This depth of knowledge and technical capability means that Phone.com offers unsurpassed reliability and performance.

Sound and Equipment Quality

As you would expect from the hands-on and tech-savvy team at Phone.com, nothing but the best equipment will do.  All accounts include a Cisco PAP2T telephone adapter to deliver the highest possible sound quality.  In fact, Phone.com’s sound quality is so good that, unless you start bragging about how much money you’re saving, nobody will ever know you’re using VoIP technology.

Customer Service and Support

Setting up and operating your phone system with Phone.com is so easy that you’re not likely to need much customer service or support.  But if you do, there is plenty to be had.  At the website you’ll find a complete users guide and product specific FAQs that will answer most any question you might have.  But if you need additional assistance, you can either send a question by email or reach tech support 24/7 by toll-free telephone call.  All Phone.com tech support is provided by an in-house team, and you can even get help in Spanish.

Overall Value

We give Phone.com 5 stars for superior over-all quality.  Phone.com offers a range of solid phone plans with great features and unlimited extensions at a fantastic price point.  You’ll also get terrific in-house customer service and you’ll be teaming up with a company that is always on the cutting edge of the industry.

Got the home phone plus plan due to the unlimited minutes being advertised. Switched from AT&T and couldn’t be happier. Brought my adapter with me to Europe so I didn’t have to worry about a huge roaming bill from my cell company.
